Development Associate

Description:

Knowledge Ecology International is seeking to hire a Development Associate to assist with fundraising and donor outreach efforts.

Knowledge Ecology International (KEI) is a not for profit non-governmental organization (NGO) with offices in Washington, D.C. and Geneva that works on knowledge goods governance and social justice. KEI seeks to push the boundaries of knowledge resource management and to leverage intellectual property policies to ensure equitable and affordable access to medical technologies globally.

KEI develops informed, innovative solutions that address business, government, and market failures and promotes reforms that provide for public needs worldwide. As consumers and policymakers search for solutions, KEI is working to support positive, sustainable reforms through a variety of project areas and activities.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective donors.
  • Cultivate new donors; foster relationships with new and existing donors.
  • Keep apprised of programmatic efforts, research, and campaign activities in the organization.
  • Track deadlines and communicate effectively with the rest of the team.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and other grant materials.
  • Assist with general office support and event support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree. (Graduate degree is a positive, but is not required).
  • Previous experience in non-profit development and fundraising experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a small team setting.
  • Highly organized, proactive in efforts to find new sources of funding.
  • Ability to communicate professionally (verbally and in writing) with funders, prospective funders, and co-workers.
  • Interest in our mission and willingness to learn about our work.

The position is available immediately and is based in Washington, D.C.

Research Internship (Paid)

Knowledge Ecology International (KEI) has an opportunity for a 2 month paid internship position with our office in Washington, DC.
