US NGO’s Call For George Washington University to Cease Industry-Sponsored Intellectual Property Training in India

“In a world with territorial patent rights, it is important that the rules for ‘goods in transit’ permit the transport of medicines from places where they can be made to places where they will be used. The EU's systematic seizure of at least 17 drug consignments is indefensible and undermines the very principle of free trade, the raison d’être of the World Trade Organization.
Tie up with Pfizer in India a mistake, says USPTO

On March 11, the USPTO responded with a statement of regret concerning the collaboration, which it termed a mistake.

Private companies or trade associations fund research and seminars, and have consulting relationships with faculty members, trying to shape public policy and judicial decisions on a wide range of issues. A particularly interesting industry/university connection concerns something called the "India Project," that is associated with the George Washington University (GWU) Law School.

Press Advisory on NGO letters to WHO and WTO on topic of Dutch seizures of generic medicines in-transit from India to Brazil, Colombia and Peru.
In response to news about four seizures of generic medicines manufactured in India and shipped through the Netherlands in route to Brazil, Colombia and Peru, sixteen public health, consumer and development NGOs have sent separate letters to the heads of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Ambassador Roberto AZEVÊDO, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other economic organizations in Geneva made the following intervention at the WTO General Council meeting on the seizure by Dutch authorities of a cargo of 500 kilos of losartan potassium en route from India to Brazil.
