The MacRobert Award for Innovation in Engineering
The £50,000 award for the successful development of innovative ideas in engineering is “the UK’s most prestigious engineering innovation accolade. “According to its literature, the MacRobert Award was established as a spur for manufacturing industry. The 2006 winner was Optos plc, a company that “has revolutionised eye care and the early detection of retinal defects with its ultra-wide retinal imagers.”
The Royal Academy of Engineering ERA Foundation Entrepreneurs Award
The prize was established “to identify entrepreneurial researchers, working in UK universities, in the field of electro-technology, who are at an early stage in their career . . demonstrating considerable entrepreneurial promise and the potential to benefit the UK’s future prosperity.” The winner receives £10,000, plus an additional £30,000 to invest in the development of the winning idea.
Royal Academy of Engineering/Nexia Solutions Innovation Prize
This £10,000 prize recognizes organizations and individuals who have made “significant contributions in the whole field of Engineering Education.”
