Earlier this week, I met in Seoul with civil society fighting the Korus FTA. They are generally opposed to reopening negotiations at this point, but if they do, they hope to have the intellectual property and access to medicines provisions reopened. USTR does not intend to revisit this part of the agreement, but the hope is that the Korean government negotiators will specifically ask for this if the US negotiators need to reopen the labor and environment chapters in order to comply with their recent New Trade Policy for America reached with the new Democratic leadership in Congress.
